Visit this amazing reserve of pristine forest about half an hour’s journey from Casa Tulco – minibus available to pick up visitors. Hagia Sofia is a 130-hectare agro-ecological project located in the mountains of southern Mexico at altitudes between 260-390m above sea level. Visitors can learn about organic/sustainable farming as applied to exotic fruits and flowers from Southeast Asia and Mexico as well as the cultivation of rare timber trees native to Mexico. For those wanting to get into some serious birding in Huatulco there are a number of excellent tours available with a very knowledgeable guide. Tours can be anything from seven hours starting at 4 in the morning to just a couple of hours – all depending on what you’re looking for.
